Sash window restoration usually takes one day per window. This includes easing, adjustment, realignment, replacement sash cords and new parting beads and staff beads complete with the Solutions Brush Pile System™. Additional repairs to the fabric of a sash window can take significantly longer depending on the extent of the repairs. Sash windows are manufactured from fifteen different elements, all of which can be repaired or replaced.
Yes, you can draught-proof sash windows without replacing them by installing the Solutions Brush Pile System™. Sash windows were designed to be dismantled and serviced every twenty years or so. This traditionally involved changing the sash cords and replacing the parting beads and staff beads and reassembling. These days we have the advantage of installing parting beads and staff beads that have hidden brush piles inserted, providing draught-proofing amongst other benefits.
Yes, repairing sash windows will reduce noise and rattling if a hidden brush pile system is installed at the same time. A large amount of noise from outside and general rattling can be attributed to the tolerance gaps around the perimeter of a sash window. The Solutions Brush Pile System™. can eliminate these gaps, leading to a large reduction in noise from outside and stop rattling.
Yes, we mostly work on listed buildings and in conservation areas and pride ourselves on our knowledgeable and sympathetic approach in helping to retain the architectural character of period properties. You can view our planning guide here for more help on this.
